How well will you age?
The aging process begins between 20-30 years old, which is the ideal time to start to take into consideration the factors which can affect your body’s balance. But don't despair if you are a late starter - we have some fantastic products and ideas to help your skin look and feel better.
If you have been watching the years go by and are noticing more lines and wrinkles appear each year you may benefit from taking more care of your health and well being, and by treating your skin to Oriflame skincare products and good skincare routines. By taking care of the things below you’ll manage to remain ahead of your age so here are some tips for a bright and young look.
1. Use UV screening cosmetic products such as Oriflame skincare and makeup

Exposure to the sun is the main factor in skin aging. Protecting your skin from the sun’s rays only during the summer when you’re sunbathing isn’t an effective barrier against wrinkles. Studies have shown that approximately 80% of aging is due to sun effects. Also exposure to the sun can cause skin cancer so should be strictly monitored using appropriate sun screens. Adapt protection depending on your skin type. People with very light skin color should use UV screening creams all year round. Using skincare and beauty products that incorporate UV protection on a daily basis can lead to less wrinkles or sun-caused spots.
2. Eat breakfast & include fruit, vegetables and fish in your diet every day
Do your skin a very big favor - Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Your skin is your largest organ and lacking vitamins is likely to lead to dull skin, spots and early wrinkles. Pay attention to balancing your meals, and ensuring you get plenty of foods that supply you with antioxidants (vitamins A, E, C and selenium), zinc and copper. 60 miligrams of C vitamin per day can be provided by a single fresh orange (not juice) . Sweets, meat and fat-rich food in your diet mean you are likely to be replacing the fruits and vegetables and fish oil your body needs with these foods . It will be easier to avoid snacking on junk food if you don't let yourself get too hungry between meals, and don’t forget breakfast! it lifts your blood sugar level in the morning, making you less hungry between the meals.
3. Water water everywhere! Drink more liquids
Keep your skin young by drinking water, juices or fruit teas. Correct body hydration helps your skin, your mood, and your energy levels. Avoid black tea and coffee if you can as these dehydrate the system and the caffeine effects can lead to stress levels being raised - not good to keep wrinkles at bay! In the summer your body will need up to 6 liters of fluids while in the colder weather 1.5-2 liters will do the job.
4. Give up smoking & reduce alcohol consumption
Nicotine and alcohol both “steal” vitamins and minerals from the body leaving skin dehydrated and more likely to show the effects of ageing and wrinkles. Smoking directly affects the skin because many toxins are eliminated through it. Smoking also increasing the risks of cancer, arthritis and osteoporosis. Alcohol in MODERATE quantities is ok unless there’s strict recommendation against it from your doctor.
5. Take it easy!

Chronic stress increases the aging process. Ideally you should aim to have 8 hours of sleep, 8 hours of work and 8 hours of relaxation each day. Don't despair - you can make a start by trying yoga, meditation, massage or aromatherapy. You can use oils that create a peaceful sensation such as lavender. Can't get enough sleep? Your efficiency at work may suffer, you’ll make more mistakes and you'll get old quicker so it's in your best interest to find a way of getting your 8 hours a night and addressing this imbalance. Spend quality time with friends, in a relaxing environment. Laughter has its benefits!
